Introduction
Sondershausen Palace was the official residence of the Princes of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen.
Description
Originally built in the 13th century, most of what can be seen today dates from the mid-16th to late 18th centuries, and blends Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo elements.
The main building forms a huge irregular four-wing structure and is the largest palace in Thuringia.
Opposite, in a 30 ha park, stands an equally impressive complex made of the Marstall (stables), Wagenhaus (coach house) and Achteckhaus (octogonal house).
